Damasco Penna has held a certified management system since 2013 under the three standards that structure quality, environment and safety: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Certification is not a plaque on the wall: it is what ensures that every borehole, every test and every field log follows an audited, traceable process.
The three certifications
- ISO 9001, quality management: standardized field and laboratory procedures, equipment under valid calibration and verification of every deliverable before it leaves.
- ISO 14001, environmental management: waste control and disposal, containment of fluids and oils at the work front, selective collection on site and environmental emergency response.
- ISO 45001, occupational health and safety: risk assessment per work front, crew training and refresher courses, investigation of every deviation and active participation from those who do the work.
Why it matters to you
Whoever hires a site investigation is not buying drilled metres: they are buying the number that will go into the design. Certification is what sustains confidence in that number, and it shows up in four concrete ways.
- Traceable data. Every sample carries its borehole, depth and collection date; every piece of equipment holds a valid calibration; every field log records who ran it and who checked it. If a result is questioned months later, the way back exists.
- Deviations handled, not improvised. When something departs from the procedure at the work front, the system requires a record, root cause analysis and corrective action. The problem reaches the report instead of staying on site.
- Audits without scrambling. Procedures, calibration certificates, waste plan, training records, occupational health exams and risk assessments are kept organized and available. Nothing is put together in a hurry for a visit.
- Pre-qualification settled. Mining, energy, ports, industry and public works usually require all three standards to approve a supplier. The documentation already meets the criterion.
There is also the less visible effect. A site stopped by an accident, by an environmental penalty or by a test that has to be redone costs more than any saving at contract stage. Managing risk, here, means protecting the client's schedule.
