Health, safety and well-being

HomeCompanyHealth and safety

Geotechnical fieldwork is a controlled-risk operation. Damasco Penna treats occupational health and safety as a condition for operating, not as a formality, with a system certified to ISO-45001 and the standing target of zero accidents.

Safety on the work front

  • Risk assessment before each activity, with the authority to stop the service when a condition is unsafe.
  • Procedures, signage, PPE and training across every work front.
  • A site standard fit for high-demand areas: mining, industry and ports.
  • Investigation of non-conformities by root cause, without looking for someone to blame.

Drilling 4.0

In 2023 Damasco Penna became a pioneer in a rig-monitoring project developed with Vale. The programme brings together telemetry on the rigs and real-time monitoring through cameras, microphones and satellite internet, taking field safety to a new level.

Well-being of the people who do the fieldwork

The operation depends on the people who spend the day, and sometimes the night, on the work front. Working conditions, rest and respect for the shift are part of the standard.

The Safe Life programme

Damasco Penna's safety culture does not stop at the site gate. Since 2021, Safe Life has taken health and safety training and talks beyond the workplace, reaching the employees' families as well.

The programme runs training sessions, talks and daily dialogues about household hazards, risks and emergencies. The aim is to create a safer environment at home, reduce the risk of domestic accidents and encourage a healthier daily routine. By bringing these ideas into the employees' everyday lives, the health and safety culture in the operation becomes even stronger.
